North Sea Energy Island – more than just an island

Our vision for the North Sea Energy Island is that it should be more than just an artificial island. Go to https://northseaenergyisland.dk/en to follow the project. The North Sea Energy Island should encourage new standards for offshore wind, based on sustainable construction and design. Most importantly, it should be able to meet future needs. Soon, the world's first energy island will be established 100 kilometers off the west coast of Jutland. By taking advantage of the strong winds in the Danish part of the North Sea, the energy island will function as a hub, delivering huge amounts of green power. This means that we can phase out fossil fuels more quickly and accelerate the green transition across Europe. To realise this vision, Ørsted and ATP have formed a consortium for bidding on constructing the North Sea Energy Island with a groundbreaking design. We believe that the North Sea Energy Island should embrace the incredible acceleration of the green transformation by incorporating as much flexibility as possible into the design.
