Check out my Instagram: / fluid_pour_art Paint pouring is a great (and oddly satisfying) way to create beautiful abstract works of art. There are many techniques that can be used for making art using poured paints, such as the straight pour, the dirty pour, the flip cup and the funnel pour. In general the most commonly used pigment for pour art is acrylic paint. To allow the paint to become a pourable consistency it needs to be mixed with a pouring medium. There are pouring mediums made specifically for pour art, however those are generally more expensive than alternatives such as Flood Floetrol. To further thin down the consistency of the paint and pouring medium, water (often distilled) is used. Distilled water is used to ensure the finished product isn’t affected by minerals in tap or spring water. To create ‘cells’ in the your pour art Painting you can add a variety of substances, however the most common and inexpensive item that would be used is silicone oil. A hardware store such as Lowe’s or Home Depot carry both Floetrol and silicone oil. The type of acrylic paint used isn’t extremely important, however you should pay attention to the type of finish (matte, satin, metallic etc...) depending on your desired finish of your finish piece of art.
