Kampala Street Scenes 1954 and Now, Uganda 1950s, F1093 b

A short film edited from 16mm amateur footage showing street scenes from the city of Kampala (Uganda) in 1954. I show a number of shots and compare the exact location with how it looks today. Fortunately the film maker could afford good quality Kodachrome film stock...unfortunately he/she could therefore also afford a zoom lens and bought that instead of a tripod. As a result 20 minutes of raw footage has become just three minutes of film (if you know, you know why). I was astonished at how Kampala has developed. The outer reaches of the Namirembe Road looked like a never ending market...vibrant and energetic. No credits appear within this amateur footage, but the date 1954 appears on the can, and thanks to the person that filmed this.
