This video shows and talks a little about - What to do when you run out of Air inside of a structure fire. Captain Dale Jenkins (Houston Fire) has brought up this subject a few times but I wanted to help answer questions: Does it actually work? How do actually perform such acts of breathing through vents, drains and walls. Captain Jenkins talks about breathing through a toilet, but I was not up to the challenge nor was my department ok with me kicking a toilet off its flange. During the day I also found a few more vents and drains to use that were not touched on, such as Clothe Washer Drains and Clothe Dryer Vents. I trained on each one of these Air Sources except a wall stud space. This procedure is meant to be performed as a last ditch effort and to save a firefighters life.
