Real Behavior Change vs. Reality TV. This is a roughly-edited clip posted in response to "Dog Whisperer: Showdown With Holly." The footage was taped during the first session with the dog and owner in approximately 30-minutes. I would have liked to slow the progress more to get relaxed body language (the tail remained tucked), but sometimes we have one chance to work with owners and need to be sure they understand the process. For those who would claim that this dog is not "as aggressive" as the dog seen on TDW, the only difference is that this behavior was caught much earlier than that on the show. "Holly" most likely started with these indications of discomfort which were missed by her owners. Those who do not recognize the precursors to aggressive displays/behaviors may think this is a different behavior, but it is not. This approach works equally as well with dogs like "Holly" that are displaying a more advanced stage of the behavior. When done under the guidance of a professional, this is a technique that any dog owner and any family member can implement without the risk of being bitten.
