This video shows how to remove the rear control arm from its outboard mounting point on the rear knuckle and its inboard mounting point on the rear cross-member. The ball joint can be removed using either a Pitman arm puller, or a ball-joint removal tool.This is preferable to hitting the ball joint with a hammer, which can damage it, or using a pickle fork, which can rip the grease boot. With a ball joint removal tool, the tie rod comes right out of the knuckle, without any effort at all. The rear control arm is mounted to the cross-member with a special cam joint that can be adjusted to set the toe of the wheel.
