Full title: Enzyme electrochemistry: From fundamental studies to biotechnological applications Speaker: Prof. Anne de Poulpiquet (Aix-Marseille Université, France) 00:00 - Everyone is getting connected 01:23 - Introduction 04:27 - Beginning of the talk 05:12 - Biological electron transfer reactions 17:02 - Electrochemistry of immobilized enzymes 28:06 - Strategies to improve direct electron transfer 37:47 - Electrochemical measurements of enzymes 54:07 - Break and first Q&A 1:01:07 - Enzyme connection to the electrode 1:07:42 - Redox hydrogel containing enzymes 1:13:04 - Proteins involved in electron transfer 1:14:52 - Biotechnological applications 1:20:31 - Protein immobilization methods 1:20:35 - Remaining challenges in enzyme electrochemistry 1:24:08 - Characterization methods 1:31:13 - Second Q&A https://www.electrochemicalcolloquium... #education #biochemistry #bio #biology #molecules Abstract: Redox enzymes catalyse electron transfer reactions in living organisms with outstanding selectivity, high turnover rates and at potentials close to the thermodynamic equilibrium. They are therefore of broad interest in biotechnological applications such as biosensors and bio-fuel cells. Here we will introduce the basics of enzyme connection at an electrode. We will show that electrochemistry can be used to fundamentally understand the enzyme behavior, and to evaluate the performances of the resulting bioelectrochemical devices.
