The Cave is dedicated to all of the women in my life and around the world who have had their basic rights threatened or taken away. It was so special to record this song with a female heavy crew as these songs were all written after going through a very intimate experience with my body where I felt that the only voice I could clearly hear was that of my inner child. Womanhood is such a sacred thing and while it is so widely shared, it can feel extremely isolated. I wanted to write a song that spoke to that isolation. Andrew McKay and I filmed this music video in the snowy Scottish highlands this past January. It was cold, it was eerie. I cannot express enough gratitude towards these musicians and to the team who made this song what it is. To Gerardo Brito at Dream Machine Studios in Long Beach, CA, you have so much patience and such a beautiful mind and are so lovey to work with. Huge thanks to Abigail Joran who helped me get this vocal take out through my tears haha. Huge thanks to the strings as well! Christopher Xue, Sienna George (bass master), and Sebastian Lee, you guys are magic and the greatest arrangers. To my beautiful angel fairies Tin Angel on bgvs you guys give me chills every time.
