This is a classic fiddle tune most people associate with being one of the first tunes a child might learn on the fiddle. This version from Benton Flippen is pretty cool though and while being reasonably simple, in no way sounds like a complete beginners tune to me. So this is a good one to make that connection from the beginners version to a version that's a lot of fun to play at jams. I play this in cross A, so fiddle is tuned AEAE here. Listen to Benton Flippen play Boil Them Cabbage Down here - https://www.slippery-hill.com/content... Let me know how you go! Music notation is on Patreon. Have you ever wondered what tunes to learn next, or what some good tunes to learn might be for your local jam? Have you struggled to listen through old recordings that are hard to learn from? Tristan Scroggins and I are super excited to announce the public release of The Old Time 💯 - Vol. 1 which features the first 20 tunes from our mammoth recording session of 100 of the most common jam friendly old time tunes. This release is primarily educational in it's function and purpose, (although these track sound really great we think!) to be paired with video content, written transcriptions and the remaining 80 tracks which are available on our patreon pages linked below.
