Many many thanks to @charlesv for chatting with me about the incredible project "Move Everything". Check it out below, and also join the active discord to get involved! Move Everything Github: https://github.com/charlesvestal/move... Move Everything Discord: / discord Move Everything: The Unofficial Ableton Move ‘Hack’ That Adds Plugins, Resampling & Accessibility In this episode I sit down with Charles Vestal, the creator of Move Everything, a set of unofficial tools that run alongside Ableton Move to add extra instruments, effects, and workflows without changing Move’s core interface. Charles explains it’s “hacky” in the duct-tape sense but not illegal, since it uses official access methods and doesn’t decompile Ableton’s code. We cover key features like a shadow UI with slots for additional sound sources, 30+ community-made modules, a 30‑second skip-back buffer, a quantized resampler, and an on-device screen reader that lets blind or low-vision users operate Move without a computer. Charles shares the project’s origins from earlier experiments and the Move Anything technique, his use of AI coding assistants, risk considerations (including resets but low bricking risk), Ableton’s awareness and interest, and why he’s not pursuing an 8-track rebuild. 00:00 Office Visit Jitters 00:30 What Is Move Everything 01:29 Key Features And Modules 02:40 Accessibility Screen Reader 04:22 Keeping Move Uncluttered 07:37 Project Origin Story 09:37 SoundFonts And Open Source 11:31 Background And AI Coding 14:31 Risks And Safety 17:28 Ableton Constraints And Performance 19:27 Ableton Reaction And Berlin Meetup 21:29 Future Roadmap And Cohesion 23:01 Why Not Eight Tracks 26:36 Community Credits And Getting Started
