This is something that Nini @Nini-yc8hc managed to find for me of a match I've always wanted to see. Thank you, my cherry blossom sweetie-cakes. 🌸🤗🌸 The match is at 1:26:05 & it's a really fun grudge match where Dr. Death & Johnny Smith (an underrated tag-team partnering) fight against Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue (the "Holy Demon Army") in the match right before the Kenta Kobashi vs. Takao Omori main event. Doc in particular was feuding with Akira Taue at this time, who he ended up beating in singles on TV • Dr. Death Steve Williams vs. Akira Ta... not long before this PPV. That episode was Doc's revenge for Taue beating him at the "Championship Carnival 1996" main event, which really helped build Taue up at the time. However, Taue left to go to NOAH during this renewed rivalry, and just after Taue's departure, Doc went into storylines against Bart Gunn, Toshiaki Kawada and the recently-debuted Satoshi Kojima. This PPV I uploaded here would be known as "Championship Carnival 2000" when translated into English, and this appears to be a TV rip of a recent TV re-run. In Japan, AJPW shows from the 1970s to early 2000s are often re-run on sports channels, since it's been known for quite some time that NJPW and other promotions have been struggling badly with viewership. Also, you may have noticed that I completely re-decorated my channel & profile, and for my WWF and WCW videos, I disabled comments. 😯❓ I did this since I got tired of having to manage it all since I'm retired now, and I'd rather focus on looking through AJPW comments (the wrestling that makes me the most happy in my current phase in life). Too stressful the more I have to engage in the broader wrestling fandom. This is something that I've been very gradually wanting to do, and now my comment feed is streamlined to my AJPW videos instead of having to keep hearing every day from a WWF or WCW video, "Oh I'm here because of such-&-such documentary" or "shoot interview got me interested" or "blah blah blah this wrestler sucks" or "this guy is an asshole". ☝😮 Really need to gravitate away from all of the sports-entertainment style of IWC drama, and Nini has noticed a positive change in me the more I just revert back to my "native niche", and just enjoying the shows with her for what they are (why I became a fan in 1994). Sure, by the late 1990s and early 2000s, there were some rowdy people online (I mainly remember flame warring WWF vs. WCW and likewise AJPW vs. NJPW), but the rowdy side of the internet was small fish compared to the hornet's nest nowadays. It was still about the wrestling shows, not the IWC drama. Doesn't help either with how bad the WWE has been exposed, Lee Cole has been talking about a lot of stuff that I honestly didn't know. @wrestlingwiththedevil I just want to separate myself somewhat from the "McMahon family style" of wrestling & "documentary associated" genres, you know, the kind of wrestling where you think about the documentaries over the show. 😗 For the WWF, to be honest, I was just only really into the "Russo era midcard" phase, comparable to the "WWF Attitude" video game. 1997-1999 were my peak WWF years (especially WWF Shotgun), lost interest sometime in the early part of the year 2000, and I loosely followed the D-show (Jakked/Metal) until early 2002 because some of the 1997-1999 era midcard lurked around for a bit. The midcard wrestling-focused shows were what I liked the most of the WWF and WCW back then, not as much of the mainstream stuff that a lot of the IWC gets very passionate about. So if you want to ask me something about anything, or just want to hear back from me during my relaxing retirement from the IWC, comment me in an AJPW video so I can see your comment. I'm not dead or crippled, just laying down low and enjoying my life amidst the world craziness. Some may think of me online as a goofy bipolar whackjob, but in real-life I'm a blue collar man & a survivor. 😎👍
