Welcome back! This week, I'm sharing a bit of what I've been working on lately. I did some small side projects, including making a pin cushion and making 5 different bindings to keep on hand for future quilts. My current hand quilting project is one that hasn't been shown here before-- it is a red and white sampler quilt, which I am quilting with the baptist fan motif. It is fairly close to being finished, and I hope to be able to share the whole thing in the next episode. In the meantime, the quilt on display this week is another sampler which I made back in 1998. My current piecing project is another orphan block quilt-- because I just have too many orphan blocks in my stash! I have it put together in rows, but the top is not yet completely pieced. I share a bit about how I choose blocks, to make a quilt which feels cohesive to me; also a little bit about how to start putting them together, starting with the biggest block in the row and adding on to the others in order to make each row a consistent height. For those of you who are knitters as well as quilters: if you are interested in watching knitting podcasts, I highly recommend @a_knotty_mess. She is doing incredible knitting work, and is such a joy to spend time with online!
