3 Lorain police officers shot, suspect dead following 'ambush'

Three Lorain police officers were shot on Wednesday, with two of them having sustained serious injuries, after what officials called "an ambush" and an exchange of gunfire with a suspect. The two officers most seriously injured were life flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. The third officer was wounded in the hand and treated at Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital. The lone suspect, described as a 28-year-old man, was pronounced dead. At this time, it is unclear whether the suspect took his own life or if he was shot by police. Officials in Lorain did confirm to 3News that police did execute a search warrant at the suspect's home after the shooting. Officials say the shooting happened just after 1 p.m. on River Bend Drive, which dead ends from Colorado Avenue.
