Drawn swords & the walking dead: last Iron Age warriors of Britain | Teresa Vieira, Jim Stevenson

Iron Age ‘Warrior burials’ are a rare and interesting tradition; only 40 have been found in Britain. Archaeology South-East have been lucky enough to find three of these. This talk will explore this tradition in more detail, using the burials we have found as examples. These burials have intriguing similarities and strange differences that can maybe tell us more about Iron Age life and death on the eve of the Roman conquest - perhaps even answering the question as to whether these really were the last Iron Age warriors of Britain.
