First step is measuring spherical power and then calculating the toricity using various calculators such as the Barrett toric calculator. The final and most important challenge is placing the toric IOL at the time of surgery. Pre-operative marks can spread or be inaccurate due to manual errors. Once in the operating room the task is to place the lens on the intended meridian. There's no question where the toric IOL needs to be placed while using the LENSAR due to the IntelliAxis Refractive Capsulorhexis. There are two tabs created during the capsulotomy as part of the anterior capsule which lies directly on the anterior surface of the IOL. The tabs are aligned with the three marks on the toric IOL resulting in no parallax issues.
