We taped this Tune of the Week at Lake Wenatchee where we were playing for folks at the park this weekend! We wanted to share two really gorgeous tunes from the Poitou-Charentes region of France. This is where our Acadian ancestors came from and I swear these tunes sound really French-Canadian to me. I'm trying to track down whether they're tied to any tunes in Canada! In any case, they're both quite lovely. The first tune is: -Avant-deux de Robert Gilbert - we're not quite sure of the name yet, but it's an avant-deux du bocage according to my friend Romain. The second tune is: -Contredanse qui va en promenade - lovely tune from Poitevin fiddler Jacques Auzanneau that was written down in 1875 Now that I've completed my Tune of the Day journey, I'm moving back to Tune of the Week!
