I'm Randy Alvarez. Today's topic, replacing missing teeth with dental implants. According to my first guest, he says nobody should be wearing a loose fitting denture. It is the end of dentures today. And with us we have Dr. Alex Aalam. Dr. Aalam, welcome to the program. Thank you so much. Thank you, Randy. It's a pleasure to be here. Now, I have a bunch of questions I have for you, and I know you have a stack of photos. Probably we can't get to all of them. We should mention also everything we're going to talk about today. You pretty much teach at USC in dentistry. You're a professor there? I'm a professor. I've been involved in the Grad program at USC for the last 20 years. And of course, in the KOL for multiple implant companies teaching other dentists. KOL is what? Key opinion leader. Okay. For multiple implant companies teaching dentists how to place implants, restore implants, do periodontal surgery, gum grafting. Gum grafting, anything that has to do with the surgery of their mouth. Now, the way you're doing it at your center, correct me if I'm wrong, in as little as three visits, somebody can get a brand new set of upper and lower teeth that don't come out? Absolutely. This is something that we do every day. Is that right? Now, you're a periodontist. You work as a team with your wife? Who I've had on the show. Yes. You also save teeth, so you just don't do one thing. Is that correct? That's correct. So we are by base training periodontist, meaning that we are here to save teeth. But of course, at times when the infection is so advanced in the mouth where gum disease or the decay is so advanced, we can't save the teeth, then we have to replace the infected dentition or the missing dentition with dental implants. And there's nobody better than a periodontist or a specialist of the surgical of the mouth to be able to do that for you. Okay, good. And I said at the top of the show, no more dentures. Do you believe that? Is that the future of dentistry? That's not the future of dentistry. Patients getting dental implants and leaving the office with immediate dentition within hours is something that we've been doing for the last decade. So this is not new. This is actually something that is established and well known by the profession today. Okay, so who's the typical dental implant patient that you see? So we have two categories of patients that come and visit us in the practice. We have the first type of patient that our patients are suffering from periodontal disease, gum infection, dental decay. And their general dentist told them that, you know what?
