Together, they walked through the streets, experienced local traditions, and shared in the warmth and hospitality of its people. It was also a particularly meaningful day for Princess Leonor, who for the first time took on the task of addressing the residents and friends of the parish on her own. In her speech, Leonor began by recalling that she had not yet been born when Valdesoto first began earning its reputation to become an Exemplary Town of Asturias. She acknowledged that the award was well deserved, recognizing the collective effort of the townspeople in preserving their traditions. With the streets filled with people, the royal visit began at **La Casona de Leceñes**, an 18th-century building that hosted the ethnographic exhibition *“Valdesoto d’antañu”*, organized by the *Santa Apolonia Cultural and Festivities Association*. The King and Queen and their daughters learned about traditional crafts such as spinning, harvesting, milking, and handwashing clothes. They also attended a folk performance in which a group of amateur actors humorously recreated the everyday life of a Valdesoto family — a charming memory that both parents and daughters enjoyed. At *San Félix Church**, one of the day’s most colorful moments took place — a performance by *Los Sidros*, a traditional masked dance revived by the *El Cencerru Association*. This was followed by a lively rendition of a local jota dance and another theatrical piece titled *“Esta visita non ye comedia” (“This Visit Is No Comedy”), inspired by the excitement surrounding the royal visit itself. True to Valdesoto’s vibrant spirit, the royal family’s tour continued through an exhibition of vintage vehicles organized by the Rallye Valdesoto Association*. Finally, they walked among the parish’s famous parade floats, which make their grand appearance each year during the San Félix festivities.
