On the auspicious of 3 April 1781 (Chaitra Sud 9, Samvat 1837), the sun in the sky appeared as a symbol of fortune shining on earth. It was on this day that Parabrahma Purushottam Narayan took birth to bless the world with his divine manifestation. To drive away the darkness of unrighteousness, establish Ekantik Dharma, and grant ultimate liberation to countless souls, Bhagwan Swaminarayan manifested in human form to guide seekers of liberation. At that time, perhaps no one knew that the birth of a child at the house of Dharmadev and Bhaktidevi in the small village of Chhapaiya in Uttar Pradesh, would one day become the cause of celebration for the entire world. This birth celebration was of no ordinary birth. This birth was to celebrate the eternal Vedic worship of Akshar-Purushottam, the establishment of pure saintliness as described in the scriptures, and the gift of the manifest Bhagwan to the entire world forever. Today, Bhagwan Swaminarayan resides in thousands of mandirs across the world and in the hearts of millions. When he manifested on earth 244 years ago, the joy and enthusiasm that was overflowing in Chhapaiya has been beautifully described by the paramhansas poets in their devotional hymns. Let us take this opportunity to invoke in our hearts the divine child, Ghanshyam Maharaj, who has been beautifully depicted by the poets with their pens, and immerse ourselves in the bliss of Sahajanand.
