Alloxylon - "Before The Forest, Beneath The Swell" (VHS, 2021)

The creation of this entire film as well as the recording was created on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, Alloxylon would like to recognise that sovereignty was never ceded and Australia does not belong to colonisers. Alloxylon would like to acknowledge Elders past and present and emerging. Always was and always will be Aboriginal Land. Before Flammeum I (Goatprayer Records) was released, Alloxylon was emerging as an Ambient and Dungeon Synth project with two releases of funeral doom inspired ambience. Alloxylon recorded "Before The Forest, Beneath The Swell" at the beginning of 2020 drawing influences from a myriad of inspirations to create an atmosphere of doom and misery. Inspired by the raw and medieval darkness of Mortiis' "Reisene Til Grotter Og Ødemarker" VHS (1997), Alloxylon embarked to create an experimental and raw VHS release to coincide with the audio release of "Before The Forest, Beneath The Swell" using analogue mixers and circuit bent and homemade machines. Recorded to tape for that degraded and worn quality to achieve the camp and raw elements of black metal through Alloxylon's "Before the Forest, Beneath the Swell". Mastered by Liam Kriz and featuring Jemimah Laine, Claudia and Estella Sullivan and Niwa Jamieson.
