Join Original Art 2025 Dilys Evans Founder’s Award winner, author and illustrator Angie Kang in her Los Angeles art studio, featuring her debut picture book, Our Lake. A deeply felt, lyrical story about siblings returning to a cherished place, with breathtaking illustrations, expressively painted with gouache, crayon, and colored pencils. Angie will present behind the scenes about how she became an author and illustrator and share how she wrote the story and her illustration process. Followed by How do we draw something that isn’t there anymore?, a drawing workshop demonstrating how to use negative space to create landscapes of memory. Draw the things missing from our lives, such as a precious object or a lost loved one. Please note that due to technical difficulties, the workshop video is a recreation of the original demonstration. Art materials needed are blank paper (colored paper is a plus!), and some drawing utensils such as pencils, crayons, markers, and paint. We love to see your art!! Email your illustrations to clare@societyillustrators.org Learn more about Angie at angiekang.net or on Instagram @anqiekanq. The book reading is edited for publishers rights.
