Join me for a quiet, early morning astronomy stream as we focus on the incredible red supergiant star, Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis), before the sun rises! Betelgeuse is one of the brightest and most spectacular stars in the night sky. We'll be watching it high in the constellation Orion as it climbs towards its best viewing position. Though local obstructions (trees!) keep us from seeing some other objects, we've got a great view of Betelgeuse high in the sky. Don't miss this beautiful star before the day begins! Tonight's Setup Notes: • Telescope: Celestron NexStar 4SE Maksutov-Cassegrain (1325mm, f/13) • The high magnification and 'slow' focal ratio of this setup make deep-sky imaging extremely challenging. Our focus is on the process of capturing the bright core of M42, not a final wide-field image. • Mount: NexStar Alt-Az / EQ Mode (tracking demonstration) Feel free to ask questions about the equipment or the targets in the live chat!
