The discussion of symmetrical components is very broad; however, the point of this webinar is to present the subject for the application of symmetrical components to explain power system conditions during unbalanced conditions. Different methods of working system values in order to determine symmetrical component values will be presented. Causes for unbalanced conditions will also be discussed and how protective elements may be used to detect these conditions. Techniques used for testing protective elements that utilize symmetrical components will be presented in order for technicians to better understand how the element works as well as how testing methods will affect how the element responds.
