In tonight's episode of "Blow Away the Competition" I explain the importance of avoiding complacency and contentment. I recently spoke with a man who owned a decently sized home healthcare company. He was generating about two million dollars a year in total revenue…not bad for a private pay organization. I asked him if he wanted to grow his business; make more money, have more employees, and see a higher profit margin. I'll never forget his response. He said, "Naw, I'm okay." Of course, my inner response was, "Are you kidding me? Are you for real?" He was complacent about being status quo. You must AVOID THIS TRAP!! He was doing alright with the business and showing profit, but I knew he could be doing so much better. Avoid the Wrong Mindset Everyone loves watching "Shark Tank" and "The Apprentice". If you ask any of these billionaires, the word complacency isn't even in their vocabulary. The day you say that your business is just fine the way it is, is the day you stop growing and it's also the day your business will start declining. What happens when you become complacent is you stop working hard for the business. When calls come in for services or products, or people call in to complain, you begin to take your time reacting. You brush it off as no big deal, nobody wins them all, or just mutter "whatever". This mindset is the beginning of the end for your company! Be a Responsible Business Owner! Complacency is NOT the key to success. Complacency is NOT the way to grow your business. Complacency is NOT the way to run a business. If you stay on that level I promise you, within two years your business will go under. All your employees and all the people who depend on your business will be out looking for jobs. You have more responsibility than just taking care of yourself! You have responsibility for taking care all of those people underneath you. When your business continues to grow, that means more revenue, more bonuses, raises in pay, better benefits, time off, hiring more employees, and helping your community. Come on folks! That's what America is all about! Make the Big Decision! If you find yourself falling into that complacency mindset, hire someone to run the business for you, sell your business, or partner up with someone.
