This cupboard gave me only millimetres to work with — but a modern TV had to fit. Here’s the DIY fix: custom inverted brackets, a trimmed shelf, and a clean re‑housing of all the equipment. Fitting a modern QLED TV into an old, tight cupboard isn’t easy — especially when there are only millimetres to spare. In this DIY project, I rebuild the internal layout of the cupboard, construct custom inverted brackets from scrap wood (inverted to preserve vital width for the YouView box and to raise the TV legs enough to stack the DVD and Blu‑ray players underneath), trim the top shelf, and re‑house all the equipment so everything fits perfectly. If your new TV doesn’t fit your cabinet, or you’re looking for a practical DIY solution to a tight space, this step‑by‑step build shows the full process: bracket construction, shelf modification, precision fitting, and the exposed cabling before everything goes back together. This project uses: • Recycled scrap wood • 12mm plywood • Chunky timber supports (inverted for extra space) • Circular saw, sander, mallet, chisel, glue and screws • Careful measuring and tight‑tolerance fitting Chapters: 00:00 Intro 01:27 Making the brackets 02:45 Modifying the top shelf 03:56 Fitting the brackets and refitting the shelf 04:31 Fitting TV and all equipment back, and re‑cabling #DIY #HomeDIY #TVCabinet #TVCupboard #TightSpaceDIY #TVUpgrade #DIYProject #Woodworking #HomeImprovement #CustomBrackets #ShelfModification #SmallSpaceSolutions #QLEDTV #CabinetMakeover
