Sanchi is a UNESCO world heritage site, home to one of the greatest tributes to Lord Buddha. Said to be built in the 3rd Century BCE, it is the oldest Buddhist monument in the #heartofincredibleIndia It is also home to the earliest example of temple architecture, the Gupta temple. One can also visit Buddha Jambudweep, a 17-acre theme park situated in front of the Sanchi Museum. An interesting thing to spot - The Buddha, according to the tenets of early Buddhist art, is portrayed in symbols: the lotus representing his build, the tree representing his enlightenment, the wheel, derived from his title of his first sermon, and the footprints and throne symbolising his presence.
