Lost in the Desert (also known as Dirkie) is a 1969 South African adventure drama film directed by Jamie Uys. The story follows Dirkie, an 8-year-old boy stranded in the Kalahari Desert after a small plane piloted by his father’s friend crashes. Dirkie and his pet dog, Lolly, must struggle to survive in the vast and unforgiving wilderness, facing extreme heat, dehydration, and the threat of wild animals. Meanwhile, his father, Anton, desperately searches for him, battling against time and the harsh environment to rescue his son.
