A panel quilt customized using a pantograph

This outer space panel quilt, a gift for a young man, is first stabilized with ditch quilting in clear thread. Then an extraterrestrial pantograph is computer-quilted across the top and bottom 3 borders, turning and trimming it to fit the remaining sides. A shiny polyester neon green thread was used here. In the panel, the celestial bodies are outlined and filled in with free-motion quilting in turquoise thread. Ground meandering fills in around the asteroid belt, and an angular meander in various sizes fills the space in between constellations, but not over them. This top was made by Vivian Newman fir her grandson Daniel.
