The Core Skills stream is one of the streams within the Skills in Demand Visa (SID) Subclass 482, which replaced the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Subclass 482 visa on December 7, 2024. The Skills in Demand (SID) Visa maintains the same Subclass 482 as the previous TSS visa. You can potentially apply for PR 186 Temporary Residence Transition Stream after holding a 482 visa for at least 2 years, but you will still need your employer to nominate you. Criteria: Available for 456 occupations on the new Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) Must have an employer to sponsor you and pay a a salary at or above the TSMIT, currently AU$76,515 per year 482 Visa Requirements: Be nominated to work in an occupation on the CSOL Be nominated by an approved sponsor There is no age requirement for this visa; however, you must be under 45 to apply for Permanent Residency through the 186 Visa after holding a 482 Visa for 2 years Have at least 1 year of full-time work experience Some occupations require a skills assessment Meet the health and character requirements English proficiency of at least IELTS overall 5.0, with at least 5.0 in each test component, or PTE overall of at least 36, with at least 36 in each test component Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL): On December 3, 2024, the Australian Government announced the release of the new Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), which includes 456 occupations. Employer Nomination Scheme subclass 186 Visa – Main Criteria For certain applicants, if you hold a short term TSS 482 visa, you may be eligible for the Transition Residency Temporary stream Visa subclass 186 (permanent residency). Please read here! The Employer Nomination Scheme subclass 186 Visa is popularly referred to as the “ENS visa”. The ENS 186 is an attractive Australian Permanent Resident visa. Australian Employers can nominate skilled workers. The ENS subclass 186 visa involves a two stage process: Nomination by an Australian employer A Subclass 186 visa application by the skilled worker Follow the links below to learn more about the subclass 186 ENS visa. There are 3 application pathways or streams for the Employer Nomination Scheme 186 visa. The 3 streams available are: 1) Temporary Residence Transition stream This stream is available for Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457), Temporary Skill Shortage Visa 482 or Skills in Demand Visa holders who: have worked for a sponsoring employer for at least 2 years can meet competent English requirements unless you are exempted no skills assessment is required 2) Direct Entry stream This is available for applicants who: have at least 3 years of experience have a positive skills assessment have an occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) are applying directly from outside Australia or are inside Australia meet competent English requirements (unless exempted) meet the skills requirements 3) Agreement stream This stream is only applicable if you are being sponsored by an employer through a tailored and negotiated labour agreement.
