"If my words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice." BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Stephen Nolan has delivered to listeners the heartfelt final words of assassinated Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif, a message the reporter wrote earlier this year in case he was targeted. His final words were shared on social media just an hour after his death. Anas Al-Sharif was assassinated alongside four colleagues in a targeted Israeli attack on a press tent housing journalists in Gaza City. The emotional message has been shared widely across social media, highlighting the human toll of Israel’s war and the intentional targeting of journalists who expose its realities. He appealed to listeners to stand for the people of Palestine, its children, and his family, encouraging them to never let “chains silence you or borders restrict you” and to hold Gaza dearly in their hearts.
