Like many coastal villages, the community has faced challenges such as coastal erosion and flooding, leading to local projects like the construction of nature-based seawalls to protect homes, infrastructure, and the village shoreline. 🏉 Rugby Heritage Namatakula is well-known in the Pacific region for producing international rugby stars in both rugby league and rugby union, including Lote Tuqiri, Noa Nadruku, Tevita Kuridrani, Nemani Nadolo, and others. 🌊 Environmental Context Being on the Coral Coast, the village is surrounded by fringing reefs and beaches, with fishing and subsistence activities tied to the marine environment. Like many coastal communities, it faces climate change pressures** such as rising sea levels, which have already caused beach erosion and concern about the village’s future location.
