Riding a Brough Superior over 1,000 miles & being insulted by a Veteran Triumph rider 😊

I have been lent a 1937 Brough Superior for a couple of months and will be riding it over 1,000 miles to enjoy it and see what a Brough is really like. As most people have never seen one running and maybe only a few hundred people have ridden one, then please join me and find out and subscribe. In the coming weeks I will post lots of films about our adventures and you can see the reality of what it is like to ride. I will tell you more about the bike and how I have been lent it in a future film. After the intro is a short amusing bit where a Veteran Triumph owner insults the Brough in a friendly and amusing way! When I have posted other films, people have asked about what gear I am using, so … The jacket is a Rukka Nivala 2. As Brough Superiors are known as The Rolls Royce of motorcycles, it seems appropriate to be wearing The Rolls Royce of all seasons motorcycle jackets. I wondered if I would get hot wearing it on a hot day, but I stay nice and cool as it has numerous vents you can open to let in fresh air. It also protects you from injury as it is full of the latest D30 body armour. I am very impressed with this jacket - I should have got one years ago. https://bikerheadz.co.uk/product/niva... On longer runs and if there is any chance of rain, then I also have the Nivala 2 trousers, which will keep me bone dry and with the vents open on a hot day I stay cool. Also with D30 armour. https://bikerheadz.co.uk/product/niva... The helmet is a Schuberth S3, which offers the highest protection and is much quieter than my previous Shoei. One of the reasons for choosing it is that the visor has excellent optical clarity. You can also add in an audio system. All of the above kit is available via https://bikerheadz.co.uk/ In this film I am wearing a pair of Hood K7 armoured motorcycle jeans. I am new to the idea of wearing jeans whilst riding a bike, but they have the abrasion protection of leather and come with hip and knee armour. They are not waterproof, so in the unpredictable UK weather or a long ride anywhere, then the Rukka is probably a better option. I have used them for about 500 miles so far, so will share my thoughts when I have done over 1,000 miles, but all very good so far. They come with a range of body armour and I went for the D30 ones. https://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/hood-moto... The Gloves are at least 12 years old and were made by RACER. They are not waterproof, but I am very impressed by their quality and how well they have lasted. Only now are they starting to show wear. The last time I looked at waterproof gloves, they were all too thick and bulky to still have a good feel for the bike, especially a sports bike. I think the technology has improved in the last few years so I will have a look around and may replace them. The Boots boots are SIDI, GoreTex lined and heavily armoured. I have been using them for 10+ years and two weeks ago I used them for a 3 hour ride in pouring rain and they kept me bone dry, which is excellent after so much use. Less good is the soles have worn smooth and this makes them really slippery on wet grass. The most annoying feature though is getting them off. They have a zip - easy and a big velcro flap which springs back and stops you pulling the boot easily off. After a long tiring day riding, this becomes an annoying pain. I think I will look to get something else. SIDI no longer makes this model so I cannot add a link. I used a Google 8 Pro phone to film all of this. I have just bought a new DJI Osmo Action 4 camera so I can make on bike films in future. My GoPro died on the above mentioned monsoon ride. I have been riding bikes on the road for 40+ years. My Dad rode bikes from the 1930’s and my Grandfather rode his first motorcycle in 1899 and then had a business repairing and selling them. So biking has been in my family for 125 years!
