Today as it Happened on Friday, February 20, 2026: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Friday that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not give President Donald Trump the authority to impose tariffs, dealing a major blow to his trade agenda. "I'm ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed for not having the courage to do what's right for our country," Trump said during a press briefing on Friday. Trump said he would impose tariffs under other laws. During the briefing, he announced plans to implement a 10% global tariff under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. Later on Friday, he announced he had signed an executive order instituting those new tariffs. He also said national security tariffs under Section 232 and existing Section 301 tariffs would remain in place. Russia is scrambling to maintain battlefield networking after Elon Musk disabled Russian military access to SpaceX's Starlink internet system. Russian forces, suddenly cut off, began improvising — setting up repeaters and relay stations to sustain drone video feeds and battlefield communications. And sending technicians up towers to do it. Those technicians keep appearing in Ukrainian drone compilation videos as easy targets. And grainy surveillance video shows a new perspective of the circumstances that led to a non-fatal Border Patrol shooting last month in which two people were wounded during a traffic stop in a Portland, Oregon parking lot. During an enforcement operation on January 8th, federal agents said they were targeting a red truck driven by Luis Niño-Moncada. A woman named Yorlenys Zambrano-Contreras was a passenger. Both people are Venezuelan nationals who are in the United States illegally, according to the Department of Homeland Security. ------------------------------------- Join our newsletter at https://bit.ly/2q1tepr Follow us on Facebook: / scrippsnews Follow us on Twitter: / scrippsnews Follow us on Instagram: / scrippsnews Follow us on TikTok: / scrippsnews
