A good milk stanchion will keep your cow in place while you milk her, and also be a helpful tool in training a calf, doing medical procedures, and cleaning and caring for your cow. In todays video we show you step by step how we built the frame for the milking stanchion. Next we build the frame for the cow to be contained with using 4x4's, 2x6's, and 2x4's. We made the side braces of the stanchion removable so that a well trained cow can be easier to milk, while a young cow in training can be kept in control. In a follow up video we will show you how to build the head gate for the stanchion, and finally we will show you how it works when we milk our cow for the first time!
