Willoughby City Council is committed to advancing reconciliation and is proud to have completed its Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). This video showcases the journey we have taken in Implementing this important plan. Through our Reflect RAP, Council has delivered a range of initiatives to strengthen relationships, build respect and create meaningful opportunities for reconciliation, including: • Establishing an internal RAP Working Group to guide the development and implementation of the plan. • Engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, organisations and stakeholders to inform our approach. • Delivering cultural awareness training and learning opportunities for staff and the community. • Embedding Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country protocols across Council events and practices. • Organising and leading key events such as National Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, the Gai-mariagal Festival and Yarning Circles. • Reviewing Council policies and practices to identify opportunities to support reconciliation and Aboriginal participation. • Strengthening partnerships and exploring pathways for future employment, procurement and community engagement initiatives. The Reflect RAP demonstrates Council’s commitment to listening, learning and laying strong foundations for reconciliation. It marks an important first step in our ongoing journey, and we look forward to building on this work as we progress to the next stage of our reconciliation commitments.
