Verneukpan Road Trip_ Day 2 of 8 (Merweville to Osfontein Farm)

DAY 2 An epic road trip to desolate Verneukpan is an adventure on it's own, but Day 2 of our trip added even more twists and turns to it. First proper rains in 8 years according to the locals, turned back roads into slow running rivers. We ended up having to cross these water hazards in our "not so much off-road vehicle". Getting the feet wet became the norm. Each crossing meant having to wade into the water to check under-water conditions. The turnoff to our overnight accommodation at first glance was a welcome break. It appeared so smooth and in fantastic condition. Well it was SMOOTH all right! So much so that our Renault Scenic simply drifted aimlessly across the muddy surface. Steering inputs seemingly made very little difference to our attempts at staying on the road. We'd like to call it a blissful challenge. BUT, if you are not in it for the adventure, you may as well stay at home - that's our reasoning anyhow! At the end of the day #Osfontein farm outside Loxton rewarded us with a spectacular sunset and a cozy Corbelled House from the mid-1800's.
