DIY HRV Heat Recovery Ventilation System: Especialy designed for inside Moisture Reduction & Energy Efficient Air Exchange. In this video, I showcase my custom-built DIY HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation) system, designed to reduce indoor humidity while also regain some inside heat. The goal was to create a system that removes excess moisture from the indoor air, without losing too much heat. Making it ideal to use in the winter periode conditions, when there is some condensation on the cold windows. Airflow Capacity: Best balanced / noise performance: +/-125 m³/h Maximum airflow: +/- 175 m³/h (after this value to much resistance in the 12x1 pipes) How It Works: • The system uses a shell and tube heat exchanger where cold, dry outside air passes through 74 aluminum tubes (12x1mm and 2m length) while warm, humid indoor air flows around them in a separate chamber. • This setup ensures effective heat exchange, allowing fresh incoming air to be warmed by the outgoing air while still reducing its humidity. • By carefully balancing airflow rates, pressure drops, and condensation effects, I optimized the system for maximum moisture removal to outside enviroment. Key Features & Adjustments: Adjustable fan speeds for balancing air exchange and noise levels. Automated control with smart switches to (de)activate the system when needed. Frost protection is almost not needed, but the systems shuts down with -7 degree outside. Also doesn't start up above 17 degree outside temperature. Tested in real conditions – achieving significant moisture reduction while maintaining comfortable indoor air quality and temperature. This system is a great DIY solution for anyone struggling with high indoor humidity levels in winter while aiming to maintain energy efficiency. 💬 Got questions?
