Dankie Darlie and her BMW 328 gave us the ride of our lives at a Soweto spinning event. The South African is a funny and fearless rising star in the male-dominated scene and an inspiring figure amongst the younger generation. Her real-life name is Nalo Jivhuho, and she's also a mother and a university student: "For me, it's about showing women that you can do whatever you want to do. Your age shouldn't be a limit. Your gender shouldn't be a limit. The color of your skin shouldn't be a limit. You should just go out there and live your dreams". BMWs are the car of choice for spinning, which started out as an underground scene and an act of defiance in apartheid South Africa in the '80s and is now going mainstream as the fastest-growing motorsport in the country. The production run from the 80s and early 90s is relatively cheap and the rear-wheel drive is ideally suited to drifting.
