fantastic piece of music by the Egyption composer Rageh Daoud,he is indeed a great composer not the first time i hear his music. a little about him Rageh Samy Daoud (b. Cairo, Egypt, November 23, 1954; first name also spelled Ragueh and last name also spelled Dawood) is an Egyptian composer of contemporary classical music. He is a member of that nation's third generation of such composers. He is also a pianist and music professor (teaching at the Cairo Conservatoire), and has composed score for several Egyptian films. He began his studies at the Cairo Conservatoire at the age of nine, later studying composition there with Gamal Abdel-Rahim, graduating in 1977. He also studied piano at the Conservatoire with E. Puglisi. He has composed for piano, voice, and orchestra, and has composed a number of film scores. Daoud is married to Mona Ghoneim (b. 1955), who is also an Egyptian composer. His notable students include Mohamed Saad Basha. now a little about the movie which i think is one of the best movies i have ever seen,and maybe i saw it more than 15 times and still can see it more:). it is about a man Sheikh Hosny who lost his eyesight but not his vision. Sheikh Hosny[Mahmoud Abdel Aziz]is a blind man who lives with his old mother and his frustrated son in the Kit Kat neighborhood. His son Youssef dreams of going to Europe to find work, and has a relationship with a divorced woman named Fatima. Sheikh Hosny refuses to admit his handicap and dreams of riding a motorcycle like every sighted person, he also spends his nights smoking marijuana with the locals in order to forget his miseries after the loss of his wife and selling his father's house. He knows everything about his neighbors and their secrets and love affairs Very few movies can do that to the audience, makes you want to Cry and laugh at the same time, If you speak the Language (Arabic) you are lucky to catch the amazing simplicity yet genius dialogue, if not, even with no subtitles foreign audiences got totally immersed in the plot. The Blind Sheikh "Hosny" (played by "Mahmoud Abdel Aziz" at his best here) is in total denial throughout the movie of his handicap. He even ends up riding a motor bike and causing a mess, physical to him and emotional to the audience. A great Timeless movie. Mahmoud Abdel Aziz the Best Actor Award from the Alexandria International Film Festival for his film The Gentleman (el Gentel) in 1996, and from the Arab Cinema Festival in Paris for his latest film The Magician (el Sâhir) in 2002.
