This week Tasmania gets a bit tricky or was it our fault? As we continue our travels of Tasmania in a caravan we explore a waterfall, visit a beautifully blue lake, try out some fishing in the river, at an off-grid camp, explore an old mining tunnel, and visit a small historical tin mining town famous for its mountain bike trails. We try out both an off-grid hip camp and low cost camp in Tasmania. EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! So we pickup from our last episode where we leave Waterhouse Point in the far North East of Tasmania and we were headed back towards Launceston as we realise we missed a few exciting things along the way. We arrive at Lilydale reserve to explore the waterfall but we didn't do our research properly and we couldn't fit our caravan setup in the reserve. It was a travellers worst nightmare as we had no way to turn around so we had to back our complete 16.5m caravan and ute setup out and continue to find a camp which then took us to Launceston. We used this as a base (we will be back later in our travels to explore Launceston) and went back to Lilydale reserve without the van as it was only 30 min drive and saw what we had missed on our way to Waterhouse point. We then leave Launceston and drive to an off-grid hip camp just outside of Derby which was amazing as we camped along the river on private property. We used this again as a base and were told about a little blue lake that was 35 min drive from Derby as you can't camp at The little Blue lake. This lake was absolutely beautiful. Its was so blue and we were amazed at the colours and didn't want to leave. You can't swim here as the lake was an old mine and the chemicals in the water may harm you. We drove through the historical tin mining town of Derby and noticed a low cost camp in the middle of town and decided that we would come stay a night to explore Derby. In Derby we explored the mine tunnel which again we absolutely loved, took a walk through the little town and treated ourselves to dinner at the local pub. Support local. Took us about 7 months and we were on the road. We decided to create videos to share with our family and friends all around the world and to inspire some right here in Australia to do the same.
