This talk was part of the UH Centre for Astrophysics Research (CAR) 2023-2024 seminar series. For the ongoing programme, please see: https://www.herts.ac.uk/research/cent... Date: 13 Sep 2023 Speaker: Prof Patricia Tissera – Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Title: Metallicity gradients as fingerprints of galaxy evolution Abstract: The chemical abundances of the star-forming regions of galaxies contain valuable information about their assembly histories, as well as about the processes that regulate the star formation history and the mixing of chemical elements. In particular, they encode the history of recent mergers and strong gas inflows, as well as the impact of SN and AGN feedback that could trigger these events. This project was carried out using simulated galaxies from the CIELO and EAGLE projects. In addition, I will summarise related projects that are currently being developed in our group.
