It's compatible with most cars made since 1996 with a full list of compatible cars at http://automatic.com/cars . I have been using the app along with IFTTT to compile trip data into a Google Spreadsheet. The 3G data seems to work relatively well although my neighborhood appears to be in a dead spot. This delays the data updates until the vehicle is in an area where it can pick up a cellular tower. My only real concern with this is privacy. Currently Automatic vows to protect identifiable data being uploaded to their service. Will that continue to be the case if they're ever acquired by another company? Another consideration is the value of data being supplied by users for free to Automatic's database. Diagnostic data from thousands or even millions of vehicles out in the world could be tremendously valuable to automakers looking to see how well their vehicles (or a competitor's) are performing. But for those looking for a consumer friendly ODB analysis and vehicle tracking tool this is a good choice.
