Stefanie Samara-Hamblen noticed people passing up produce 10 years ago at a farmers market. “It was because they didn’t know what it was or didn’t know how to cook it." When she caught onto why she knew just what she could do to get people interested in different veggies. “I thought writing a little newsletter with some recipes would be a good idea,” Stefanie said. Her idea caught on quick. The newsletters are left at local farmers markets and stores, and years later they’re still flying off the shelves. She gives to the community, and the community gives back as well. “Local small businesses tend to support us, we’ve had some really wonderful advertisers throughout the year,” Stefanie said. Being able to prepare it how you want is has a plus-side of its own. “Cooking at home means you’re picking the ingredients, you have control over what’s in your food rather than it being processed in a factory and it puts you in touch with nature because you keep up with what’s seasonal,” Stefanie said.
