Inspired by the the Mahalakshmi Dhobi Ghat, Mumbai …built in 1890 by the British....the Kolkata Dhobi Ghat at 62 Ritchie Road...... which is around 116 years old was built and was one of the largest Dhobi Ghats of India in that era . The South Dhobi Khana…. a Britishers legacy to the city of joy , which has still maintained its service delivery standards with simple yet traditional approach of work & methodology. A ground for bread and butter for many of the families involved in this trade , over a century. A lesser-known gem in the heart of Kolkata Metropolis and little is being done to upgrade the same to an automated wash-house in tune with modern day launderettes.
