This is my go to shop for any equipment that I need for the ski season, or for any season for that matter. Shugaso has 3 locations in Hokkaido. Two of the shops are in Sapporo and one of the shops is in Asahikawa. There are multiple floors of equipment and clothing and I have always found the service to be exceptional. The staff are very knowledgeable and are keen to offer assistance. In terms of sizes for larger people, they seem to order in clothing that fits me and I am a large. For boots and I am probably on the edge of what they would order, a 27.5 which is a U.S 9.5. It is always interesting to see the type of equipment in this kind of shop, especially if you are from outside of Japan. You will find some quirky items, like the raccoon arse warmer! Be careful of days that they shops don't operate. Monday is the day off in Asahikawa and the shop closest to the center of Sapporo. I think that it is Thursday for the Shiroishi shop. https://www.shugakuso.com/ Chuck Olbery is the director of Hokkaido Powder Guides which operates privately guided backcountry ski trips in Hokkaido, Japan.
