One of the most emotional and unforgettable days of my journey as a new Muslim revert—my visit to Madinah, the blessed city of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). I take you with me as I attend a Muslim burial for the first time at Jannat al-Baqi, visit Masjid Quba, pray at Masjid an-Nabawi, and explore a local shop to buy a shemagh. Along the way, I practice Arabic with locals and try reading the Qur’an in Arabic—a milestone for me as a student of the Arabic language who moved to Egypt from America. I also reflect on how far I’ve come, what this experience means to me, and how it’s shaped my connection to Islam.
