TALANTA MTAANI is a national project of the Centre for Intellectual Property Law, Advocacy and Research - CIPLAR International which seeks to support talented youth in the “Mtaas“ - low-income settlements – to receive exposure, hope, and a platform to enable them to break out of the poverty cycle by earning a livelihood using their talent. CIPLAR is an NGO that advocates for Intellectual Property issues and believes that Kenya is one of the most richly endowed countries in natural and creative talent. The idea came about when three young men were determined to be on TV, walking all the way from Kawangware for three days with the hope of a listening ear from the CEO of CIPLAR International, Maurice Okoth. They believed that this was the person who would give them a platform on Triple P Tv that airs on Star Times cable TV. ​ Seeking to be part of the solution, strategic partners (Uwezo Awareness Org, CSUDP and the Swedish Embassy) works with CIPLAR International enabling for a national youth empowerment show on primetime every Friday from 8pm on KTN Home TV in association with the Standard Media Group in a 360 media arrangement with support of print, radio, digital & on-ground platforms for maximum impact and reach. TALANTA MTAANI is much more than entertainment featuring auditions, training, workshops, live events for and from the youth of Kenya. The winners are chosen via digital voting on SMS.
