Steps to creating reclaimed barn wood mantels

I wish we could show you the entire process from the tearing down of the barns all the way to the end product but we just didn't have enough video footage. We will start posting more helpful videos on youtube more often so make sure to subscribe. Steps 1.) Once you have your beams on the saw horses make sure to de-nail the beams. And remove and Doles from the wood. 2.) Next take a chisel and a clean the edges 3.) Sand all 4 sides of the barn beam with an electric sander 4.) Make sure to sand the front and back as well :) 5.) Put the doles back in the beam for added character 6.) Apply a polyurethane coat to all sides making sure to let them dry enough before flipping to ensure it doesnt run.
