The Pearl Ribbed Black Booby is one of my 'super-subs' . I have used this fly for many, many years and it has never failed me. Tied as a result of trying everything in my box, this fly accounted for many fish on a day when there were many blanks recorded. When 'colour' in a fly seems to be an issue and takes are not forthcoming, the 'super-sub' comes on to win the match. There is no doubt that black flies catch their share of fish and this one is no exception. When standard modern, colourful flies such as the blobs and fabs are not working, I always resort to this fly. Give it a go, I think it'll surprise you.
