As we talked on our last videos, to fabricate our model, we need to slice it into layers. Those layers will be printed one upon each other. For this mission, we use PrintSYSt solution. PrintSYSt provides a one-click process for the complete 3D printing workflow. After the uploading process, you will be able to download a ready to print file, which in our case means gcode The gcode stands for a geometric code. GCODE is a package of instructions, which operates our 3d printer. This bundle of commands is basically, a language code which use to move the printer components, It also represented the tool paths of each layer. How is g-codes built? Gcode contains a lot of information. If you open the Gcode in a text editor, notepad, for example, you will be able to read this kind of code, but it would be difficult to make sense of it. You can get a better understanding of g-code by using a program such as Cura, SM3, Repetier and so on. Those type of programs allows you to open a g-code and see the printer tool paths. They also can track the extruder head movements. It’s super useful for verifying some of the printing processes before start actually to print. Some of those are free software and we will put links in the descriptions down below. Warning: Writing your own G-code can result in a damage to your printer! G-code flavors Every g-code is unique to the printer for which it was written. The instruction set is based on the machine type. By the way, similar is being used for CNC machines. So, let’s explore some gcode commands: G0 F9000 X125.38 Y118.00 Z0.50 This common line represents printer movements. G0 mains standard gcode command and movements to specific XYZ Coordinates. The F9000 represent the feed movement or better to said rate. Extrusion rate we have been shown as E. this means that G1 X93.18 Y117.963 E233.14 is printer movement to 93.18 on X-axis and 170.96 on the y-axis and an extrusion rate of 233.14. More similar codes such as M codes represent other components instructions such as a cooling fan or temperature settings.
